Scotland Crown Office Unclaimed Estates

UNCLAIMED ADVERTISED ESTATES FALLEN TO THE CROWN IN SCOTLAND SINCE 22 AUGUST 2003

Any blood relative of a person listed who wishes to claim that person's estate should apply to the Commissary Department of the Sheriff Court in the area in which the person lived, for appointment as executor dative on the basis that he or she is a specified blood relative of the person and for the Confirmation of the estate.

The Commissary Department or a solicitor will advise on how to obtain Confirmation and the legal duties of an executor dative.

If Confirmation is obtained, that document and the order of the court appointing the applicant as executor - dative (if applicable) should be forwarded to the QLTR Unit along with a copy of the executed (signed and dated) Bond of Caution, proof of the executor dative's identity, in the form of original photographic identification along with a recent original utility bill and original certificates showing the blood line accompanied by a written explanation of the blood line (family tree) in chart form which should be as clear and concise as possible. On receipt of these documents, the QLTR Unit will pay out the estate funds to the executor dative for that estate. You should always quote the relevant QLTR reference number when forwarding the original Confirmation document.
